Ambassador Program

Madras-Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce Ambassador Mission:
To support and promote the Madras-Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce by building cohesive relationships in the community through fostering goodwill and communication amongst Chamber membership.

What is an Ambassador?
  • An Ambassador is a hospitality position, serving for one calendar year.
  • Ambassadors are appointed by the Chamber Board of Directors.
  • An ambassador may continue to serve beyond the one-year term providing attendance and participation requirements are met.
  • Ambassadors must support the Chamber; its members and the community.
  • Ambassadors should conduct themselves professionally in business and personal dealings.
  • Ambassadors who excel in their responsibilities are often looked at for Chamber Board consideration.
  • An ambassador may be asked to step down if they are not able to fulfill the goals and expectations of the program.

Responsibilities and Guidelines of an Ambassador:
  • Wear your name badge to Chamber functions to be identified as a Madras-Jefferson County Chamber Ambassador.
  • Be familiar with up-coming events and Chamber functions.
  • Attend 75% of Chamber functions, including the group meetings.
  • Visit new members as requested and make sure they are familiar with our services.
  • Assist new members in becoming more involved in the Chamber.
  • Encourage those in your business circle to become a Chamber member and inform them of the numerous benefits of Chamber membership.
  • Keep the Chamber informed of the needs that should be addressed.
  • Be a greeter at Chamber functions and make sure others feel welcome!

Code of Conduct
  • Recognize that time and energy are at a premium and teamwork is critical to success.
  • Discussion at meetings should be open, honest, appropriate, and relevant.
  • Questions are appropriate at any time.
  • Mutually respect and support each other.
  • Promote consensus thinking and governance.
  • Work hard and have fun.
  • Respect the fact that we are all volunteers.
  • Allow members to express opinions without interruption and/or judgment.


Rules of the Road

Objective:
  • To serve as a Public Relations arm for the Madras-Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce, assisting in membership retention and participation.

Purpose:
  • This committee will visit new and existing business members and invite newcomers and nonmembers to the many Chamber functions.

Suggested Areas of Work:
  • Welcome new businesses to Jefferson County either at their place of business or at a Chamber function.
  • Invite established businesses that were once Chamber members to attend Chamber functions and rejoin the Chamber.
  • Participate in Chamber functions. (Coffee Cuppers, Business after Hours, Special Events, Ribbon Cuttings, Conventions, and welcoming visiting dignitaries).
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of membership development efforts. A prime goal of the Ambassadors will be to develop new Chamber of Commerce members.
  • Coordinate closely with the Chamber office to obtain radio, TV, and newspaper publicity for the Chamber Ambassador activities.
  • Participate in goodwill tours to other cities in the state.

Eligibility:
  • Any Madras-Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce member or any employee of a member in good standing with one-year minimum membership shall be eligible to participate as an Ambassador.
  • Membership of the Ambassador Program shall be limited to 25 persons plus Chamber of Commerce staff and Board members (ex-officio members).
  • There will be no standing membership positions for any business or organization.
  • A waiting list of individuals interested in becoming an Ambassador will be maintained. Invitation to membership will be extended based on the date of application and ability to participate.

Membership:
  • Application for Ambassadorship shall be made on the Ambassador Application Form to the Membership Committee Chair. All applications will be reviewed to determine eligibility.
  • Members will serve a one-year term, which can be renewed annually.

Meetings:
  • Attending Chamber Board meetings are required and they are held on the second Tuesday of the month at noon.

Attendance:
  • All members shall attend 75% meetings and Chamber functions. Ambassadors failing to attend three consecutive scheduled meetings or functions without notice may be removed from the Ambassadors’ program, after consideration and review by the Membership Committee.

Conduct:
  • Members will not use the Ambassador meetings as a platform to promote their own business or political pursuits.
  • Members should strive to promote a positive image for the Chamber, declare conflict of interest should the situation arise, The Ambassador Program will follow the Bylaws set forth by the Madras-Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.
