Situated in scenic Central Oregon, Jefferson County is a blend of industry, agriculture and recreation. Residents enjoy panoramic mountain vistas, countless recreational opportunities and friendly people. The county offers a slower pace, yet is close to the larger city amenities available in Bend and Portland.Jefferson County is made up of diverse people, places and terrain. The scenery unfolds as the forest of the Cascade Range gives way to the high desert plateaus of the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs. View ten million years of geology where the canyons of Cove Palisades and the Crooked River Gorge document the region’s volcanic history. Delight in the beauty and solitude where the headwaters of the Metolius originate near Camp Sherman and eventually joins the Crooked and Deschutes rivers to form Lake Billy Chinook.
We are home to state high school champions, international manufacturers, one of the most popular water recreation destinations in the state, a Native American owned resort, the world’s largest producer of carrot seed, an award-winning winery, and some of the purest water on the planet.
